Elk in the Road

We were walking along this path and a giant elk was just standing there looking at me saying 'What do you want?'. Either out of stupidity or confidence we just walked by about 5 feet from her. It is unbelievable to get this close without being mauled.

Chipmunk Attack

This was as scary as the bison attack. He was attracted to my squirrel musk.

Cartoon of Dennis the Menace on a Geyser

This gave me direction to not sit on a geyser. Thanks god for the diagram!

Dramatic Bison Encounter Recreation

Our bison attack last night had very dark pictures we hope to enhance. In the meantime we hop this scale model will suffice. We are the soap bear since there were no Hyundai models in the Old Faithful gift shop.

Old Faithful Inn Mirror

The flash on my tummy is from the magical microbrews (4 types) they serve in the Bear Pit bar and lounge.

Yellowstone Sunset

We made it in just before sundown and saw this sunset. It was very peaceful
and nice and about 10 minutes later we were stuck in a bison stampede
scared out of our minds. The pictures from that experience may make it up
here eventually but we must clean our pants from the fear of having an
elephant sized bison sit on our rental car. Otherwise, all is well.

Paddle of Brownstone Beer

This was a nice sampler of acceptable beer. The best of the 6 was a raspberry lager. Yes I enjoy fruity girly beers.

Brownstone Brewery

Idaho Falls has a microbrew and even though their strongest beer is only 3% alcohol, I was willing to give it a try based on a favorable online review. It was either this or Skeeter's Pancake and Steak House.

Wife with Falls

Our first stop was in Idaho Falls. It is a small town but we noticed it isn't too small since Bret Michaels and Poison are coming to the Potato Forum in 2 weeks.
Notice Cheryl's festive Gator Crocs in support of our team remotely.

Welcome to Mitt Romney Land - Where the Players Play

We just landed in the entertainment mecca of Salt Lake City, got our rental car and headed the heck out of there towards Idaho and Yellowstone. I feel uncomfortable among polygamists and their short sleeve dress shirts with polyester ties. Here is a pretty mountain - enjoy.

I've Abandoned My Child

Here is a photo of me and my son at around 7:00 am at Grandma's house. He looks sad and confused but I am confident that he will be back to running around and licking himself in about 2 hours.

DC Bicycle Rentals

I forgot to blog this last night but since I have some extra time in a stinky cab, I will share my thoughts. After dinner, we saw this and thought it was a novel idea until some of the homeless citizens decided to use them as urinals and/or storage.

Sitting in DC Traffic

Does it make sense to reduce the number of lanes going into Reagan National from 4 to 1? I don't think so but I may be picky. At least I can enjoy the view of the Washington Monument while hearing the Haitian music inside my cab. I am scared of the amount of lotion and cologne in the cab but I may be overly observant.

Pizzeria Paradiso Dessert

This is called Chocolate Salame and it was a dense chocolate ganache cut into slices to expose the almonds. Very nice with their French Press coffee.

Pizzeria Paradiso Pizza

There is nothing better than a wood fire pizza and the margherita with spinach and pancetta shown is an amazing example of what can be done with flour, water, and shear will.

Pizzeria Paradiso First Course

This is a fresh mozzarella salad with sundried tomatoes and basil. You could tell it was fresh and the mozzarella had the nice bounce to it that tells you it was fresh.

Pizzeria Paradiso

For our last meal in DC we decided to go to a highly rated local wood fire pizza kitchen. The oven looks good and we are having to wait 20 minutes.

Dupont Walk

As in every other pedestrian friendly city I visit, I enjoy walking around and seeing what it is like to not have a car and dream about not having to pay insurance, change your oil, and pump gas. I am sure the cost of living in one of these gorgeous houses exceeds any cost savings but it is nice to see what it would be like to be a Huxtable.

Luxurious Hotel, Not So Nice View

We are staying at the Jurys Hotel in Dupont Circle and regular Plog readers may remember this place as the location where my room was preoccupied by a naked German guy. This time I asked for a renovated room and I got one without nakedness but instead got this beautiful view of the air handling units. They may as well not give me a window and do one of those murals found in cheap Italian restaurants in the middle of Ohio where it looks like I am in a cartoon fantasy world of Tuscan joy.
Oh well, at least it is a clean room.
